Restaurants use more energy than any other retail business. Typically, a restaurant in Los Angeles or anywhere else will use almost five times more energy per square foot than other commercial buildings, according to Pacific Gas & Electric's Food Service Technology Center (FSTC).

 

The commercial food service sector spends $10 Billion annually for its energy use, but nearly 80% of that is lost in inefficient food cooking or storage, according to research by PG&E's tech division.
